Phnom Penh (PNH) Day 2

My second day in PNH I woke up feeling like a sack of bricks fell on my head, and there were worms eating through my stomach lining. Neither of which happened, but I deserved it because I did not properly hydrate myself the day before. Coupled with how I felt, we visited some terrible places. Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum has thousands of photos of the victims during the awful Khmer Rouge regime, who were experimented on and tortured to death. The photo of the metal bed frame is an example of how people were tied up by all four limbs and horrible things were done to them. We also visited the killing fields where thousands of skulls are housed in a memorial, and the surrounding area is home to mass graves filled with bone remnants.

By the end of the day I drank about four liters of water filled with re-hydration salts with a kinda orange, tangy flavor, but all the same making me want to blow chunks with each swig. I managed to fight off the urge to lose my tummy and I am glad I did because at night we were all rewarded with a wonderful show from the CCF children filled with traditional Cambodian dance and art.

Phnom Penh (PNH) Day 1

Bright and early the next morning, I was off to see the gorgeous PNH sunrise along the Tonle Sap River. Since my clock was still set to Malaysia time, I woke up well before the birds were chirping, but there were actually tons of people along the main street, stretching and doing aerobics. I spent the day walking around the city, visiting sites filled with colors, smoke, people, and aroma!
